MT Program
 

The 2.5/3-year MT (Master of Translation) program is mandated to train students to be professional translators specialized in translation projects covering public services, finance and business, technology, law, inter alia. Students receive comprehensive professional training in translation, trans-writing, editing, project management, translation technology applications and database management.

MT students are required to complete a minimum six month internship at one of GIIT¡¯s designated local and/or international internship centers.

The translation faculty is composed of professors and instructors, including experienced professional translators from the industry, who are able to offer students comprehensive and specialized professional training and guidance. Students also benefit from lectures and training sessions given by a team of visiting and adjunct professors who are also practioners from international and regional organizations, government agencies, and industries.

The MT curriculum includes courses such as Professional Translation, Translation Workshop, Fundamentals of Translation Studies, Literary Translation, and MT Thesis Writing. Training and coaching are tailored to be as effective and objective oriented as possible, a pedagogical approach which is well received by the students.

MT graduates work as translators and multi-lingual professionals in China and around the world, contributing to better cross-cultural communication. GIIT alumni are active in promoting the interests and development of the institute through participation in a variety of events and activities.
